Soup last night, CHILI tonight!

Recommended Posts

I'm making my yummy chili tonight. I use a pound of extra lean ground beef, browned with chopped garlic and onions and drained. Add a big can of Tomato sauce, a can of petite diced tomatos, a can of corn, a can of original Rotel, and a packet of McCormick's chili seasoning. Cook on low for a few hours, and voila! Yummy chili. You can add Beans for extra Protein, but I prefer my chili to be beanless.

Chili is a wonderful comfort food for me. I don't like it at restaurants, I don't like it from a can or a box..

But when I make it from scratch, and leave it on low on the stove all day.. mmmmmm.

I do love it, especially on the cold days.

I make it by browning meat with onions, then adding garlic, Tomato paste, Water, cloves, bay leaves, salt, pepper.. then cooking it for a while, then adding kidney Beans and cooking a while longer (slow all day long).. take out the cloves and leaves.

I use to also like putting it on rice or macaroni noodles, but I enjoy it just as much without and no need to add all the extra calories.

Yummmmmmm, I absolutely love chili, I make it all the time.

These days I skip the rice (or for the kids I serve it on organic corn chips) and just have it as is, with a good dollop of thick natural yogurt and some chopped avocado and Tomato.< /p>

I like mine FULL of Beans though.

Its healthy, cheap, high in Protein and fibre (if you have the beans) and also vegetable based with all the tomato. Perfect food really.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of putting bay leaves in. I'll have to try that next time. I'm going to freeze some of the chili, so that I'll have it whenever I want it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
