I made it for dinner last night. Just ate a few bites plain, but it is quite bland, so you can add what flavoring you like. There are only 8g of net carbs in a cup of it.. so it's an excellent choice.

Although I've never cooked spaghetti squash, I always make yellow squash casseroles (yummy). Zucchini squash ranch meatloaf is another go-to home-cooked meal for me.

Squash is such a versatile vegetable. It's also nice that the price of squash becomes more affordable during the warmer months.

I love spaghetti squash! In a few weeks I'll have loads fresh from the garden.

I cook it a few different ways. Baked (or microwaved) and topped with butter and pepper is good. Or be fancy and top with things like bacon, grilled chicken, parmesan cheese...

It's also a great replacement for spaghetti noodles (or other pasta). Just top with sauce :)

I love it! I make it a lot and it is super easy! I usually serve it with some spicy Tomato sauce with turkey Italian sausage and onions and peppers! YUM! I do so much with it though! I mix and egg and cheese with it and line a pie pan with it to make it a crust for a quiche. It's very versatile! As long as you season it, it's delicious!

Lurve it! I split it lengthwise, scoop out seeds. Drizzle with olive oil and season with whatever you like (we do s/p/gran gar). Roast at 450 degrees til done--about 35-40 minutes. Then use a fork to separate all the strands and serve with your favorite meat. Yummay!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
