I am almost five weeks post surgery. Today I worked out for an hour. I have been able to do that in years. I love weight lifting and being fit and I can finally do it again. I have rheumatoioid arthritis and diabetes. Before the surgery I was constantly sick, I had cellulitis 3 times last year. I have worked out 4 days so far this week and I'm sleeping less. I have my life back. I feel like I was in prison before and I have now been released. This is the real me. I may not get down to my goal weight as I love lifting heavy weights. But I have already gotten out of this surgery what I wanted, improved health and energy.

Very happy for you!!

You will be replacing fat with muscle so that is a good thing! As long as you are happy with your body composition that is all that matters.

I hope you continue to share your progress.

Hearing these testimonials are the fuel for my fire. My passion is dance. There is a bellydancer trapped inside me who is fighting to get out and dance for more than a few 10 minute moves. To have the energy and the ability to move my body like I see it in my head moving is something that plays over and over in my mind. I see myself dancing, spinning, gracefully moving to the beat song after song. ....
It's the image I am taking into surgery with me. When all of you post your stories of energy, movement and how good you feel it reafirms for me once again why I chose this path.
I want my health, energy and vitality back. No more diabetes, hbp, moving slow like an 80yr old woman.
When my Doc asked ne, what do you want to do when you lose weight?
I said, I WANT TO DANCE AND DANCE AND DANCE!!!!!

Surgery 7-21, on that day, I am birthing the belly dancer I know so well. [emoji38]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
