I'm on day 3 of pre-op diet. Mine is 2 Protein Shakes and 1 lean Protein and veggie meal. Today has been the hardest day so far... I feel like all I have thought about today is food. I think the first two days were easier because I was busy all day and didn't have time to think about it. 2 good things though, I had a headache for the first two days and that went away and I lost 3.5 pounds. Good luck to everyone.

At least you get to eat my surgeon says no food just Clear Liquids for two weeks pre-op. I'm dying.

My surgery is July 19th I've done the pre op since July 9th and it has been hard but not as hard as I thought I've been to family gatherings and a wedding on this diet, the wedding was the hard part I'm only supposed to have the liquids or sf pudding , Greek yougurt or sf Jello but I did sneak just a few bites of the salmon and let me tell you just from being on this pre op diet I felt a rock in my stomach eating a few bites of that salmon!!! But I am very excited for Wednesday!!!

I guess I'm the last of the July sleevers (7/31) to start liquid diet. It stinks! Didn't realize how much of a habit eating is. I get hungry and think I'll have a sandwich. Nope, no sandwiches for you! LOL

It could always be worse.... I am grateful for the opportunity.

Day 5 of high Protein liquid diet. 9 days to go, then surgery. I miss solid food. Even a salad. A bit of fish. Anything! Very much trying to focus on the fact that this is temporary. I will chew again some day.

Hello, has a support group started? My surgery is 7/21 and I've been on liquids since 7/7. It's gotten easier and can't believe my surgery is Friday!!!

My doctor wanted me on the liquid diet for 28 days, but he told me to go on it immediately at our last appointment which was before I had a surgery date, so I'm doing 6 weeks of the very low calorie diet.

Some days are easier than others. I'm grateful too, but lookig forward to moving ahead for surgery on July 31st.

28 Days? That seems like torture. I am on day 4 of a 10 day one and time just slows down to a tiny crawl. I guess I need to suck it up. Good Luck and Good Health to you...you're strong!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
