So I had the sleeve surgery on June 6 and my first two weeks I lost 16 pounds my third and fourth week I only lost 3 pounds. I go to my 6 week check up in a couple days and I don't think I've lost anything. I've been following my diet and I walk for at least 45 minutes 3 times a week now I'm feeling discouraged and like this isn't working. I need help and advice on what to do everybody says because I'm you (26) the weight should fall off but it's not and I'm scared I went through this for nothing.

Nineteen pounds in 6 weeks might feel frustrating, but is perfectly respectable. It averages out to just over 3 pounds a week. Your body is likely in shock, depending on how much weight you had to lose, and won't give up another pound until it adjusts.

You're fine. We need to adjust our expectations sometimes, because if you think about it, at any other point, you'd probably be celebrating your loss, not being unhappy about it.

There will be ups and downs, stops, starts and stalls on this journey. You're off to a great start. You're just ready to go and eager to see changes. Go easy on your body. In no time at all, you'll be down your first fifty, and buying new clothes. It's truly insane how fast this transformation goes, even with genuinely slow losers, like me.

Your life is about to change. Hold on to your hat.

I'm sure your doctor will be pleased with your progress.

I got surgery on May 24th and lost 29 pounds but for the last 3 weeks I haven't lost anything! I eat like a bird, walk at least 5 miles a day and do exercise classes 3 times a week. I am very discouraged as well. It feels like I am doing everything right and not seeing the results.

Nearly 6 months out and I'm down 45 pounds. I'm a super slow loser but I'm still over the top excited about my progress. It is unfair to expect your body to just drop all the weight so quickly and life is happy and skinny. I wish it worked that way. Your body is a well oiled machine designed to adjust during times of fast and famine. Every so often you'll stall to give your body a chance to adjust to the new eating habits you are forming.

This journey is a marathon not a sprint. When we're in it for the long haul, any loss is a good loss. I am averaging 2 pounds a week which is a healthy and sustainable level of weight loss.

You're doing great and will continue to lose weight since you're sticking to the plan. I can't wait to hear from you in 4 more months. You will change your perspective and you will be so happy with your progress.

Take care

I am not complaining about only losing 29 pounds, just want to be sure that this stall is normal. I was also on antibiotics for a month because of a staff infection in my incision. Thank you so much for your input, I have a very hard time being patient.
