Had Surgery on Monday

Recommended Posts

Left hospital on Tuesday with no pain but I think I over did it walking too much and was in bed the rest of the day. Hope it gets better. How long does pain last?

Didn't have pain when got home after 4 days at hospital post surgery...just walk as much as u can it takes awhile to build up strength. I started with like 10 minutes a few times a day and then worked up slowly to an hour. Walking is a great healer but don't push yourself...baby steps. Make sure you get your Protein and Vitamins daily.

i swam three weeks after and was in the gym as soon as i was cleared. i think its because of the type of job i have im used to pushing myself or maybe i got lucky!

Hi Dennis, my surgery was Thursday & I was released Saturday. Out of curiosity, do you still have a drain pouch? Where is your pain?

Hey just seeing this sorry for not responding sooner. I didn't have a drain pouch. I had a little pain the day I came out but I think I just over did it walking.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
