It's pretty amazing, she is transforming right before my eyes.

I just got weighed at my last pre-op Appt. I'm down 10 pounds since I started this diet last Thursday. I still have 5 days left on this diet until my surgery. Is 10 pounds good? I feel it's good but not sure. How much have you lost on yours?

You've done fantastic, don't worry at all :)

My personal experience was 4 weeks. 2 weeks of shakes and 3oz piece of meat a day, No carbs at all. No fruit, no potatoes, beans, corn. All sugar out. Followed by a little under 2 weeks of just shakes. Lost 17lbs the first week, and in the 3 weeks following made it -27 in total. I notice a big difference without sugar, weight really comes off. Every person is different! You're doing great :) Keep it up! :)

I went from Canada to Mexico for surgery, and paid everything out of pocket. Trust me, paying $9500.00 is very motivational lol, I couldn't show up and have them deny me surgery, for a reason I was in control of.

I'm on day 12 with surgery scheduled Monday. I lost 6 and I've gained back two. I followed the instructions I was given and I'm eating less than 700 calories per day so I'm not sure what else I can do.

I did lose over 40 in the 4 months prior, since I started the program so maybe I'm just stalled?

I'm trying not to obsess about it, but I am a little disappointed. I was hoping to go into surgery 10lbs lighter than I am (though I am already 10 lbs lighter than my initial goal for surgery)

You've lost a total of 46 lbs leading up to surgery. Don't cheat yourself on the ability to be proud of that! That's amazing!

Thank you!

I am pretty proud of it, especially because I have PCOS and losing isn't usually that easy for me. I'm still amazed I was able to lose any.

Totally amazing! How are you feeling with Monday right around the corner? You go a day before me.

I'm actually doing ok, not actively thinking (or worrying) about it, probably because I'm focused on my endless to-do list. I want everything ready for when I get home so I'm cleaning, clearing, and prepping for these two days.

I'm guessing I'll have a hard time sleeping Sunday night, especially since I plan to take my meds for Monday (surgeon's suggestion) and drink my last glass of Water at midnight and I have to be at the hospital at 6:15am.

How are you doing?

I've got a laundry list to do also... literally lol. I've also began cleaning. I need to pack. I found myself in a store for an hour and a half yesterday searching for cute pajamas. First, I had drawstring pant pajamas and couldn't find a cute shirt (then I thought about how crazy I am for trying to look cute for one or two days in the hospital lol) so I picked up a plain shirt and walked to the check out and realized I may want a gown so I don't have to worry about feeling uncomfortable with the pants, put it all back and was in search for a nightgown that didn't look like it was for an 80 year old lol. It was a crazy day. Anyway what I couldn't find were gas x strips everyone keeps suggesting we buy. I can find capsules and chewables...

Yes I know. I hate hospital gowns. Never have felt comfortable. Having my own pj's always makes me feel a bit better : )

Ha ha ha! You sound like me!
I bought pajama shorts and capris (I'm 5' so regular pajama bottoms are always way too long). I have dozens of baggy t-shirts I could wear with them rather than buy a new shirt too. I also got a lightweight nightgown in case even having a loose waistband is a problem. I also bought a lightweight robe for roaming the hallway.

I figured even if they make me where their johnny instead, they'll be good for hanging around the house while I'm out of work since I'll probably only need to put real clothes on to go walking.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
