Just wanted to wish all tomorrow's patients the best and pray we all do well with no surprises. I probably won't be online until after I return home. Definitely want to keep up with how well we all do. POSITIVE THINKING and PRAYERS! I'll try to post pretty regular for the first couple weeks while I'm home to maybe help others and ease the tension. I'm first up tomorrow.....safe surgery and safe travels to all. I'll be in Huntsville, Alabama.

I'm feeling on the fence these last couple of days...it was such a let down to get pushed back 2 weeks...I feel a little like to just cancel...[emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

Mine was denied at beginning of June (with orders to do 6 months of weight checks) and then approved 6 weeks later after I filed a grievance about something else, and the woman writing it up over the phone must have thrown this in there too when I mentioned it. It threw me for a loop, the whole back and forth. Don't give up. Our timing isn't always god's timing (or the insurance company's!).

Hi - my surgery is scheduled for August 11th. Feeling excited and nervous in equal measures!

I am August 11th too! Just started the pre-op diet today. Only liquid protien and no cal/ low cal beverages. National Night Out with a neighborhood potluck is this evening, and I am not looking forward to no cocktails or Snacks while people near me are raving about the food. [emoji86]

The kids (teens) did a great job handling their own Breakfast, lunch, and prepping the dish for the potluck... so more independence will hopefully be a positive side-benefit. We will see how they are doing in 10 days. [emoji12]

Sending positive vibes to everyone!

Just wanted to say good luck to the first batch of August sleevers! My surgery isn't until the 28th but that's starting to seem really close. Took care of two appointments yesterday (pulmonary follow-up and second group meeting) and my ride home messed up; I spent 2.5 hours on hold getting another ride lined up and didn't get home until midnight! Appointment today for ortho shots in my knees.

I'm definitely looking forward to a future with many fewer doctors' appointments. Not to mention fewer prescriptions, less poking myself for glucose testing and insulin shots, better sleep, less knee pain . . . I'm not nervous about the surgery at all. Bring it on.

I am august 10th, trying to shop. Ut not sure what to get for first week .

Here's the basic list:

(This list was taken from the obesitycoverage.com website), but it also reflects what I've read on many, many posts here. For the sugar-free drinks, try Crystal Light for flavoring. I think you can also have Protein water during this phase . . . otherwise, only the broth has any protein, I think. At any rate, as soon as you move to the full liquid diet, it adds quite a bit--protein shakes, sugar-free pudding, cream Soups, nonfat yogurt, and so on.

Hello all my August Sleevers! I want to also wish all the early sleevers a speedy recover & hope all went well!
My date is the 16th & I have my pre op appt this friday the 4th! Thanks to my sister & daughters (1 is 3 mos post op) I know what to expect or what could happen post op! Im 4yrs older than my sister who lost her weight fast, unintentionaly, her hair & experienced the dumping syndrome. My daughter is doing Great! I hope my experience will be most like hers. The day of her surgery she was drinking her Water very well. No sipping & was released from the hospital the next early afternoon! She also had no Hair loss. She said her worse experience was the pain from the gas. I was there & she was acting like she was giving birth to her 1st baby![emoji23] she has no children but now she has an idea what labor pains feel like![emoji38] so far all I think about, after eating really healthy & well, is to go out & eat at some of the new resturants that has opened up here in San Bernardino county, Ca. Before I may have to go on a week of possibly an all liquid diet! But its 11:48pm (california time) wednesday night. that only leaves me 1 day before my pre op appt. So Ill settle for this 1 place called Habit! I hear they serve very good burgers!
Well Im looking forward to hearing the experiences from those August Post op sleevers!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
