Kyle Lukas 29 Posted July 12, 2017 I have been athletic most of my life with weight fluctuations. I am finally taking the plunge next week when I have my surgery. I was wondering if any one has done a high intensity weight lifting program. With the weight automatically coming off due to the surgery has anyone done a high intensity, light weight routine to try and maintain the muscle you have and tighten up the body and skin? I am thinking of giving this a shot after the month I have to take off post surgery. Thanks. 1 xoxococojay reacted to this
TheRealMeIsHere! 863 Posted July 12, 2017 Be sure to get clearance from the surgeon before doing any lifting. It's typically 6 weeks & you may have to start with lower weights as you heal. The weight does not automatically come off due to surgery. The surgery is a tool and only 1 piece of the process. Exercise is crucial to losing weight as well as maintaining. You are at an advantage, since you are already used to being athletic. If you have a routine that works for you and you enjoy, that's a huge step in the right direction. 3 ProudGrammy, AdorableAsian34 and Newme17 reacted to this
Newme17 3,444 Posted July 12, 2017 I was cleared at three weeks to start weights but it had to be light weights in the beginning. I was quickly in to heavy weights about a week or so after that. So, as long as you're cleared and listening to your body (make sure there's no straining and pain), then you'll do great. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
crocodoxie 223 Posted July 12, 2017 I've done both traditional weight training and the super slow/heavy weight reps...loved the latter. That's my plan once I'm able. Surgery, Aug 1. I loved how healthy my body felt when I lifted. I had to stop for other reasons. (Back surgery last year -ongoing chronic issue, now resolved)
Lord Nikon 31 Posted July 17, 2017 I've been lifting weights since Jan of this year. I didn't bother with it and only did cardio, and then my surgeon was like, "JUST GET IT DONE NOW" so I went to the gym with a buddy, and he set me up with a small program, 3 times a week. I've seen results, but sadly I have a lot of hanging skin, so muscle is not as noticeable as I'd like. 1 GotProlactinoma reacted to this

KateBruin 344 Posted August 12, 2017 I'm excited to have my surgery (on the 23rd) so I can get back to my HIIT classes once I have to stop. Doc said 6 weeks nothing more than 10 lbs. I enjoy lifting as heavy as possible and can't wait to be on the other side because the weeks I can't will be torture. Not to mention my 25 lb dog who will be very mad at me.
