To all my Kaiser family who took the options classes how long after that were you given a surgery date ??????

Each Kaiser has a different process. Here's a rough timeline of the process I had to go through

- early Jan. referral from PCP
- mid-Jan orientation to Options program
- early Feb meet with program director
- first week of February start 12 week Options program
- mid-March (6 weeks into Options) meet with program director and complete all required tests
- last week of April finish Options
- mid-May final appointment with program director
- May 30 meet surgeon
- June 20 pre-op appointments
- June 22 surgery

Hope that helps! Although, the requirements at your Kaiser may be totally different than the Kaiser I go to in SoCal.

I think it all depends if you get lucky or not when it comes to getting your final two appointments before seeing the surgeon. One of my appointments was postponed because the doctor called off sick for the day. But when I finally finished my appointments and saw the surgeon (on a Friday) I asked him to put me on the cancellation list if anything came up sooner than the date he had given me for my surgery, which was another 2 months out. They had a cancellation that Monday LOL. So I saw the surgeon on Friday and was sleeved on Monday. So in the long run mine went pretty quick. But I've heard others haven't been that lucky.

Good point!

My surgery was originally scheduled for 8/1 but I asked to be on cancellations list. Then they had me tentative for 6/26. Then the 6/26 date turned into 6/22!

That's so cool! Right around the corner! It definitely comes super quick. The only advice I can give you that others might not agree with LOL... if you like sushi do an All-You-Can-Eat for your last supper! Hahaha!!! I never got a last supper and I miss being able to sit down and enjoy the all you can eat sushi restaurants :(. But skinny feels better than Sushi taste! [emoji6]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
