Clarive 3 Posted July 10, 2017 Hi, I have a month now from having the gastric sleeve surgery and I'm not going to the bathroom as much as I should I'm in the second faze which is purée and yet nothing is helping for me to go to the bathroom. blizair09 3,250 Posted July 10, 2017 I have struggled with Constipation since the surgery (and I am 9 months post-op). If I haven't gone by the third day, I take a dose of Milk of Magnesia, and it always does the trick. I've just learned to live with it. It is par for the course with a Keto way of eating as I understand it.
Clarive 3 Posted July 10, 2017 Do you take a full cap of the milk of magnesia ?? Because I took just 30mg and I'm still waiting 😩 1 ckamedina reacted to this
samiam67 34 Posted July 10, 2017 Every 3 days I drink a hot cup of Smooth Move Tea at night and works great by the next morning! No cramps or anything. 4 Julie norton, bossportsgal, char3672 and 1 other reacted to this
Dabearo 118 Posted July 11, 2017 Lordy. Timely post. Fighting this today. MOM was a dud. Stool softener was a dud. Md office recommended Miralax. We shall see. Blizair09. Really? This is the new norm?
EmmyJ 184 Posted July 11, 2017 Constipation was a fairly constant problem for me until I was on regular foods again. Now I can mostly stave it away by having 3 servings of fruit/veg a day and including high Fiber starch when I do eat a serving, usually once every other day. It just goes with the territory. 1 Dabearo reacted to this

bossportsgal 136 Posted July 20, 2017 I don't like it. I am 6 months out and struggle with no daily BM. Every three or so. I take colace and or MoM and still nothing. I'll try to include more fiber.

GotProlactinoma 458 Posted July 20, 2017 Magnesium should help. Capsules not tablets. Or liquid like nature calm powder - mix and wait til it's not so fizzy, we aren't supposed to drink fizzy stuff 1 MB reacted to this
chamilton0323 50 Posted July 20, 2017 Milk of magnesia worked for me. But I would take it when you can be close to a bathroom because DANG it worked. My dr also told me it could take a couple months for BM to get back to normal
jess9395 5,449 Posted July 20, 2017 Once you get something to work and clear you out, try adding a spoon full of benefiber once a day. That's what did it for me

Anyone has pointers. Hi I'm 7 weeks post-op. And I have learn that because you do not gave a lot going in (food intake) you will not have a lot coming out (bowel movement). What once was your normal will be a thing of the past. I think that your norm will be somewhere like every 3 days. At least that is what I found to be the case with me.
