RN4WHLR 11 Posted July 10, 2017 Is this normal? I am day 3 post-op and I weigh 4lbs more than on my surgery day.
MSinger 348 Posted July 10, 2017 Yes, I weighed 10lbs more a week after my surgery. Your body retains Water while it's healing, plus any IV fluids you had during the procedure. Don't stress the weight too much during your first month as Fluid retention can really throw your numbers off.
rainyann 118 Posted July 10, 2017 Me, too, but about 9 pounds... stay off the scale for a little bit
blizair09 3,250 Posted July 10, 2017 You were pumped full of air and fluids at the hospital, so it is natural to weigh more immediately post-op than you did when you went to the hospital. Everyone deals with that. My advice is to stay off of the scale for at least a month. Your body is desperately trying to heal, and any weight loss comes second to that. Good luck! RN4WHLR 11 Posted July 10, 2017 Thanks for the input everyone. Yeah I understand, plus I drink about 3 cups of veggie or mushroom broth everyday and even the low sodium stuff has a lot of sodium in it. I just crave savory flavors so much.
