minidee 0 Posted October 10, 2007 I am a newbie also! I have done all my requirements for the lapband, now I am just waiting for the insurance. I don't know when to have my surgery. If I have it in November, I am afraid I will not enjoy Xmas. (yes one of my favorite food holidays:hungry:). I am also worried about if I did have the surgery would I stay on the diet the dr will put me on......I am so confused and I don't see any threads with the same concerns...maybe I am not ready for this surgery yet....or is this normal...is anyone else thinking of the holidays? :help:
Bullitt2410 0 Posted October 10, 2007 I too am thinking Holidays. I was asked if I wanted the surgery this coming monday, but with Halloween coming up, i'd like to take my daughter Trick-or-treating. So We settled for Nov 5th. After that im hoping it goes well with 2 weeks of liquids and then the mushies, because of the good mushies that come with Thanksgiving! lol. Hope you get it figured out! Gone4Now 4 Posted October 10, 2007 Hi there! I'm relatively new to the site...only a month old. In my experience, the first few days were rough, after that I was fine. I'd plan for a week of r & r. After that, smooth sailing. I was worried about our state fair at the end of Sept, but I was fine, fine, fine...I even had a small ice cream cone shared a funnel cake w/my daughter. (I'm not filled yet.) Hope that helps... ?
Pattypoo1 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Guys, you know what? I usually take my vacation from work every November. I decided to have surgeyr Nov 1 BECAUSE of the holidays. I can enjoy it all now because I won't be focused on food, what to eat what not to eat. I know now that I definately won't gain any weight over the holidays, and I will be happier not having food rule my life. To me it's a no brainer, I will be much happier this way. I hope you guys can look at it from a different perspective.
Bullitt2410 0 Posted October 10, 2007 I think then my msg came across differently. It wasnt to focus on the "food" it was the timing, if im going to be eating mushies anyway, why not make sure that I can have a few with the family during family holidays. thats all

minidee 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Thank you! I made up my mind and called my doctor. My tentative date is Nov. 5th.. I will have no choice but to make the holidays about family and friends and not food. I know it is going to be harder than it sounds..But I can and will do it. I have noticed family and friends that don't have a weight problem, don't understand why I am making this choice. They tell me why don't you just go on a strict diet, go on weightwatchers. I am just tired of trying to explain to them, that if it was that easy I would not have this problem! Okay I feel better..
