Your brain after bariatric surgery

Recommended Posts

Your logical side: It is just a stall. You knew about the 3rd week stall, you were aware. It happens to everybody. It will pass, you'll see. Your body is just adjusting. You are losing inches. Even if it takes a while, you will lose weight just from eating less food. Just be patient.

Your emotional side: *crying hysterically* You are a failure! You will be the first person in the Universe to go thru this and not lose weight! Just give up. Nothing you can do. Your stall will last forever. You will not lose another pound.

Tell me it isn't true...

You pretty much nailed it
I did very well losing weight before surgery ...50 lb in about 6 months.
After surgery I lost quickly in the first two weeks. The next four weeks...about 3 pounds total.
It is hard to have faith. It is a lot of work to have faith. About once a week the emotional side takes control and I let out the frustration and sadness.
Then back to the logical side.
With 6 weeks now passed I'm on normal foods. So, I'm working on getting back to some of my pre surgery favorites that helped me lose. I'm getting my Protein numbers up as I feel like I can now head back to the gym.
Eating food with a little crunch is also nice. I did 2 weeks liquid pre op, 2 post op, 2 weeks puree and 2 weeks soft food. That is 8 weeks of a lot of restriction. Now, I'm trying at least one new food item per day and that helps with the emotional side - having more options is so nice.
A lot of advice is to stop weighing yourself and I struggle with that. I have some work travel coming up and that will force me to take some time off the scale.< br>Stalls and slow weight loss happens to so many and with so many stories from others I know logically it isn't me and there is nothing wrong. Thank you to all who share on these boards!
I'm tracking using baritastic app and will review with NUT if I'm still frustrated after I get back from my work trip.

precisely why i am only going to weigh myself once a month. if that. i'd love to go scale free entirely. because weight tells you very little quality information about your health. i also know my quasi-OCD self could easily become obsessed with the numbers and i don't want that to happen. i did this surgery to be MORE happy, dammit!

I keep thinking the same thing but I will probably be too curious. Gah!

I was totally convinced it wouldn't happen to ME. It did.

I get stalls, everyone stalls but they will pass. Never listen to your mind in an emotional state, it's not correct. It's just the stalls are frustrating and if you stay stalled for a while, it's very discouraging and thus you get scared or worried that that's all you're going to lose.

It's kind of interesting how both you and your body can control where it should or want to be weight wise. For some it's different. Getting stalls just means your body is adjusting. If that's not it, ask your doctor about it and run through the list of possibilities.

I didn't need to see the doctor when I stalled. I figured out on my own why I stalled.

Anyway, as long as you're following the plan, everything should be fine. [emoji1419][emoji846]

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
