Yes I am 18month post op and I still having issue eating. Sometimes I can eat and sometimes I vomit. It's hard at times. Also one day I can eat something and following day I can't eat the same thing. It will get better.

I have problems too but I think the problems I have with eating are my fault. Yesterday I had chicken nuggets and could only eat 1 and a half pieces. The day before that I ate something and got sick. I'm only 10 weeks out so.... It all depends on what my pouch decides to keep down. It could be anything that I get sick from but it doesn't happen as much as it did before.

I'm 5 months out and I really was struggling eating solid food, had a endoscope on Wednesday and it showed that I had a structure. We are meant to have a 3cm gap for our food to go down and mine was 8mm they even struggled to get the scope through to stretch it. They stretched it to 12mm and I have to go back in 2 weeks for them to stretch it again. Keep an eye on your eating and if you continue to struggle I would suggest to get back in touch with your consultant. Good luck.

I was just diagnosed with a stricture at 4 weeks out and am having my third endoscopy with dilation this Thursday. I was having trouble keeping food and Water down, but it was totally hit or miss until all of a sudden everything made me sick. Definitely worth getting checked out.

For those of you who had the balloon dilation, do you have this at the doctor's office? Did you have the endoscopy first (same day)?

I had to have it scheduled at a surgicenter. I'm going for my fourth dilation tomorrow, the dr is hoping that this one will be the last.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
