It was on my list of approved foods. Do you have a list from your Dr? I never tried it because I don't like it, but Oatmeal and Cream of Wheat were on the list.

I would double check with your Dr. It is a soft food for sure, but may not be considered a puree.

I've recently been eating a lot of high Protein overnight oats that are really tasty. I can share the recipe if you like

I ate oatmeal a few times while on puree, my doc got mad when they heard. She said No Carbs because they are pushed into the intestines which can't digest them properly. So I haven't eaten oatmeal since.

My doc/NUT had it on the approved list for puree. My NUT said to make it soupy. I ate a lot of Cream of Wheat because I prefer it to Oatmeal and still eat it on occasion when I need a change or am doing a high carb day. I eat on a variable cycle so my body doesn't get used to eating the same way.

I was told no oatmeal ever. My dietician asked if I've seen oatmeal left in a sink and how it soaks up the liquid and bloats. He said that's what happens in your stomach. And there's better choices. Unfortunately I hate cream of wheat.

No oatmeal ever? I would question that dietitians qualification. Oats are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates as well as Fiber. I am not sure what they would consider a "better" choice. Bran is good; as is shredded wheat, but I wouldn't say they are better.

As for the "soaking" up the liquid, the only liquid in our stomachs should be digestive juices. Which is mainly hydrochloric acid. I'm pretty sure that oats (nor oatmeal) are impervious to hydrochloric acid. The example given of sitting in the sink isn't really a fair comparison because of the mastication of food in our stomach versus the unchewed food in the sink.

Not picking on you Suns, just questioning the advice of your dietitian.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
