Hello everyone . I am 17 days post op and I am having a hard time finding things to eat. Everything I try upsets my stomach and I'm not hungry at all. Today I had a string cheese, and 2 bites of shredded chicken. Im nervous because I don't want to get in a habit of not eating. I need a plan, please help.

I am having my surgery tomorrow. My Dr said I will be on Protein Drinks etc; no food until my post op until 7/26/17. I am on liquid now and have been since yesterday. Ugh.... I will be watching your post because I'm going to want to know what to eat. I google everything, but its good to get ideas from other people who are going though it.

Best advice is to not buy too much of one thing in the beginning I am 17 days out after gastric sleeve. I have a pantry full of boxes of Bone Broth ,cream Soups, and a frig full of different Protein Shakes I hate. I found a protein milk at publix called Rockin refuel it's awesome. chocolate taste just like chocolate milk and the vanilla taste like icecream. Has 30 grams protein. And I love oikos triple zero Greek yogurt has 15 grams protein the strawberry and salted caramel are my favorites. I got some unflavored Protein Powder to add to my soups. I've made a smoothie using fat free skim milk protein powder and fresh strawberries added splenda. Also crushed ice is my friend. I go to sonic and get bags of pellet ice and keep in my fridge. When I need to chomp on something it's there. Hope this helps.

Sylvia...Thanks for your suggestions. Being the fanatic I am, I also have Protein powder and everything coming out of my cupboards. LOL

We do not have Public here but I can check for that Rockin brand somewhere or order it on-line.

How long before you can go on soft foods? How long were you in the hospital?

Are you feeling well since its 17 days?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
