I had my surgery on 3-21 by Dr. Sanchez, he is wonderful. I have already lost 9 lbs.

Just got back with my son from Mexico. What a great experience, the doc himself picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the hospital. He gave me his cell phone incase I wanted to call anyone at home. Do you know of ANY doctor who would do that??

The hospital was only 10 beds but immaculately clean. The two nurse staff were kind and very diligent about monitoring pain. I'm going back on Sunday for surgery on Monday. I'm a surg. tech if I even had a thought that it wasn't the place to go believe I wouldn't have turned my child over to them. Good luck in your search and in getting healthy.

I had mine 3 days ago with Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth, Texas.

www.fortworthlapband.com is the web site.

I had to pay cash (insurance wouldn't pay) -$15,000.

Dr. Powell with Lap band solutions in Richardson TX is very good. He did mine and my husbands surgeries. No problems so far. His staff will work with your insurance to get you approved.

Estefania,

May I suggest that you go to the Inamed website [www.inamed.com], look under Lap-Band then use the "Surgeon Locator" to find a surgeon in the area of Texas where you reside. When you do the search, it will tell you when the next information seminar is scheduled for the surgeon you select.

In the meantime, check with your insurance to see if the procedure is covered. If the Lap-Band procedure is covered, then I would proceed to check to see whether the surgeon's names you got from the Inamed website, or those that were recommended by others in this support group, as well as the surgical facilities/hospitals they doctors use are considered 'in network' by your insurance. The reason I suggest this is many surgeons are doing the Lap-Band procedures at what many consider state of the art facilities that unfortunately are 'out-of-network'.

The surgeon I selected performs the Lap-Band surgery at SCOR [surgical Center of Richardson] as well as Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. He and the Hospital are 'in network' SCOR is not, so we asked for approval for surgery at Presby Hospital.

If you find that your insurance policy contains an exclusion for WLS, then you can choose to fight it, or you can check Inamed's International surgeon information, which should provide links to Doctors in other countries, like Mexico, as well as their websites.

I would also go to the website obesityhelp.com, which contains information on various Weight Loss Surgeries. They have a nice database, created by members, that provide information on various insurance companies, as well as comments on the doctors they used, which WLS procedures they do, and reviews of Hospitals/Surgical Centers.

Reading old posts on this and other Lap-Band Support Group sites will also contain a wealth of information.

Good Luck on your journey!

Barbara

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
