cassiegurl 39 Posted July 6, 2017 I was sleeved on 6/28/17 and I feel like I smell different. I don't stink, but there's a difference...or am I crazy? Someone help me! Lol 1 njgal reacted to this
DisneyMom2El 120 Posted July 6, 2017 I smelled different for a couple weeks. It wasn't sweat, but musky. I also have a friend not on these boards who was sleeved one month before I was. I remember commenting to her about my change in scent and she said she was too. It did go away shortly after. 1 cassiegurl reacted to this

Newme17 3,444 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) I smell different. I didn't or haven't looked up anyone else who may be experiencing this, but I went through like five different deodorants since surgery, 5/15. Finally got a salt stick that seems to be working just fine. It drove me nuts. I sprayed body sprays and perfumes and powdered...it was weird. I think it's just my hormones out of whack...ph balance whatever going on. Guess it's homework time to see what links there are to body odor and wls.... this makes sense from a OH forum.... "hormonal changes...mineral changes from Vitamins, the way your body now digests food, etc. From what I have read, it seems that once your body starts to regulate itself...the problem dissipates." Joann454 1,329 Posted July 6, 2017 Well, this is interesting. I've been buying new perfumes lately and noticed I'm not drawn to my usual scents. Like they're not working with my chemistry anymore. 1 cassiegurl reacted to this
Apple1 2,572 Posted July 7, 2017 Yes, I have noticed this also. I am using a new body spray and I was showering twice a day for a while ..lol. I don't notice it as much this past week. Maybe my body is normalizing it now? 1 cassiegurl reacted to this
Sweet as peaches 759 Posted July 7, 2017 I have a lot of dogs sniffing up my dress that I wear and that did happen before the surgery too. But now the dogs are really going up there and I didn't even get dinner from the owner or a good night kiss from the dog 9 Joann454, Boomqueen, Muppetpunk and 6 others reacted to this
LadyIris1 9 Posted July 7, 2017 I was sleeved 6/26 and I'm having a very hard time with my smell and the smell of people. In the hospital the nurses body spray would make me gag and same goes to my own and those who wear heavy perfume around me. My husband and I have been arguing because his after shower smell really makes me nauseous. I thought I was going crazy, I will show this to him to prove it was the surgery lol, will make him feel better (I think) 2 julbug and cassiegurl reacted to this

cassiegurl 39 Posted July 7, 2017 I had to go thru my perfumes and sprays today. Some are just rancid! This is absolutely amazing! I forgot to ask my doctor about the smell thing, but I'm so glad it's not just me!! 1 Joann454 reacted to this
Tasha416 9 Posted July 7, 2017 I had to change my deodorant because I smelled different. My doctor said it was because my hormones are out of whack after the surgery. It almost made me paranoid 2 ThickGirl5683 and cassiegurl reacted to this

GingerBananaBelly 88 Posted July 8, 2017 Nope. Not crazy. It's actually called ketosis. And it's a good thing! It also the reason for that nasty taste in your mouth that won't go away. It's your body using your fat stores instead of carbohydrates for energy which produces a build up of acids. They are secreted through your skin and breath. It's a totally normal metabolic process. 6 cassiegurl, gjb2017, Brandeis and 3 others reacted to this
