So, my scale, the little devil, bas been stuck at 205 since roughly 6/21...the dreaded week 3 stall was not a myth, y'all. My surgery was 6/1 so I hit that stall right at the 3 week mark...

BUT... And I may be crazy here... I feel like I am losing inches instead of weight? Is that even possible?! Can one lose onches without losing weight? I have also read that fat is "redistributing". Is that also possible? Because I feel that I went from being a blob to having some shape to my body. Clothes fit better, I am wearing pants I have not put on for a long time...

I started my journey at 245lbs, now 205. Only 40lbs lost. While significant, I still have another 60 to go at least... But how do I get the scale to cooperate?! Still... Is it possible, the whole inches vs weight thing or am I completely insane?

You are not losing your mind at all, it is perfectly normal. Don't try and "break the stall" as it is precisely what your body should be doing at this stage. "Only" losing 40lbs in a month is an incredible amount of weight in that time period. The industry average according to my surgeon is 25 lbs.

Fat is not being "redistributed", your body is just using reserves to complete the healing process. Adaptation cannot happen at the same time as the loss. You have the about a year of the drastic weight loss ahead of you, don't worry. As long as you follow the plan and do not fall back into what was considered "normal" habits before, the scale will continue to go down and then maintain.

Since you are still so fresh from surgery, I would heartily recommend you take measurements of your chest, waist, hips, thighs, and arms. That is the one set of metrics I did not track and I really wish I had done so.

I also hit my 3 week stall which kinda threw me because I hadn't really paid attention to where I was since the last few weeks have been crazy! I had my surgery done 6/5 and it seems I may have broke the stall, but I'm not positive. I weigh every other day and yesterday I had lost 2lbs since the previous weigh in. I also felt the same as far as losing inches, my husband and I actually talked about that. I don't think you're insane. According to my scale(I know the weight is accurate) which measures body fat, muscle mass, Water, etc.. I have gained muscle mass so it's possible I lost fat inches but gained some muscle too so there was not a big scale difference. Either way I hope you break your stall, maybe try and move some more? We were out all weekend from Friday to yesterday and while I thought I was gonna die on Saturday I made it and then my scale started moving again. I'm 6lbs away as of yesterday from being under 200 and I think I'm finding my motivation after also putting on clothes this weekend I haven't worn in 4 years!

One of the hidden joys of weightless surgery is dropping clothing sizes. Some call it a NSV (non scale victory). I went from a size 3X in shirts down to a size Small and from a size 46 in pants down to a size 32. I think I enjoyed this more than dropping pounds on the scale.

Your body responds differently as you lose weight. Sometimes you lose a few pounds, sometimes you lose a few inches - but it all adds up over time.

Totally normal! I've lost inches this whole time despite a few stalls. This week, for the first time, I lost weight without losing inches. Weird! I think it's just our bodies adjusting at their own paces. I personally take any kind of loss as a victory, whether it happens when it's "supposed to" or not. :-)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
