Does anyone know when you can swim again. And what will it do if you go swimming to early? I'm 3 weeks post op today. Thanks

And how do you know if they are healed? Is that something your doctor tells you? I already did my 1 week post op and my one month comes after my vacation, and I was wondering if I should avoid swimming while on vacation

I would think if they are closed? You definitely don't want any bacteria getting in there!

Depends on the Dr. I was cleared to swim at six weeks but he said if I felt well I could do it sooner. My incisions were all healed (no scabs, completely closed). My concern is the fatigue. I tire fast and hard! I'll be swimming next week at seven weeks!
How far along will you be when you're on vacation? Pool, lake, or ocean swimming?

I will be a month post op by the time my vacation comes. Going to the Cayman Islands do a little bit of ocean and pool swimming. If I can't, I can't.... my health is more important. But I do feel like my trip is a waste lol can't eat, drink, and possibly not swim. My surgery was suppose to be earlier, but yeah....

If your incisions are closed and all healed (which they should be at a month out) I can't see an issue. Just don't go out far (maybe you could wear Water wings [emoji23]).
Stay hydrated and plop your chair at the water's edge! I do hope you can have fun even though no eating and drinking. There's always shopping!

While salt Water is good for healing Ocean water in the summer time is not good for healing. The waters temps get in to the 80's/90's and breed bacteria. I live in South Florida on an island on the Gulf of Mexico. Every summer someone dies from swimming in the ocean with a cut. I am also 3 weeks post op and I will swim in my pool once my scans are gone but I'm going to avoid the ocean for a couple months.

Thanks for the advice everyone! My scars are closed but still puffy. I might just float on my raft around the pool and put my feet in! I am just excited cause I think I can get into my swimsuit again!

One dr told me 2 weeks and the other told me a month. I am just going by the one month to play it safe.

My surgeon cleared me for swimming or baths at my 2 week appointment.
I had dermabond glue covering my sutures.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
