Did anybody else's skin clear up?

Recommended Posts

Ok I gotta be honest here. I've never been a Water drinker. And don't hate me but my surgeon only required a one day clear diet before surgery so I got to hang on to my sodas till 24 hours before surgery. But now that I'm 11 days out and I drink water all day I've noticed a huge improvement in my complexion. I was cursed with open pores and still at 41 would have the occasional breakout. I know it might not be a big deal but I've struggled with my skin my whole life. Also since giving up all the fried foods and junk I no longer have oily skin. I'm just so excited it's like an extra bonus.

I hung on to my diet cola until a few days prior too. Like you, my skin clearing up has been an extra that I didn't expect.

I, too, have the curse of the open pore. I'm a month out of surgery, and the comment I keep getting is how glowy my skin is. I always liked makeup before, but now I love playing with new looks. Yay for happy skin!!!

My skin LOVED the low fat/low carb preop diet. I had HUGE open pores on my nose, and they shrank to nothing!

But, I couldn't stick with low carb/low fat for long term. So I'm eating moderately low carb, moderate fat and my skin is better than before, but not as good as the preop diet. Guess I'll take it :)

That glow look may also be from taking Vitamins. Just how pregnant woman are glow. Vitamins do a lot. I am still hoping my skin clears up.

My skin started to clear up when I started eating low carb back in January. It is a great side effect😊

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
