I had my sleeve 6/19 I am starving ! I cannot eat anymore Soup ! I have melted small amount of cheese in microwave and eaten it in small bites . I am not taking in much over 500 calories daily and I don't feel like I'm losing . I'm terrified my metabolism will slow down so bad it will be impossible for me to ever eat normal without gaining weight .

I never thought about our metabolism slowing due to lack of intake! Yikes! That's a very valid and worrisome thought.

I'm currently having a real problem with this. I feel like I'm hungry ALL THE TIME! I know that even if my brain wants to eat something, there's no physical place for my body to put it anymore. I'm currently at the 2 ounce phase, and I realize at some point I will be able to eat 4 ounces of Protein plus some applesauce or maybe even lettuce (God do I miss that, never thought I'd miss salad), but my brain still wants to eat a full plate of something.

I'm losing weight (although I've hit my three week stall a bit early) and you'd think that'd be reward enough, but I'm frustrated. I know it's something I'm just going to have to adjust to, but I worry that I won't be able. But the surgery is non-reversible and so I'm stuck here for the rest of my life.

Skinny people might point to obesity surgery as "the easy way out", but I am here to tell you, psychologically, it ain't so easy, at least for me.

Thanks for listening.

What scares me a bit is I hear people refer to this as the "honeymoon" stage. If this is the honeymoon, I want a divorce!! It's such a mental game, especially for those of us who have a food addiction. I see people eating and I just crave whatever they have. It's such a hard addiction because we HAVE to have it to survive and we HAVE to be around it, unlike drugs. It's like telling a person with a drug addiction: here have just a lick while we full-on participate. [emoji15] (Not to make light of drug addiction) oh well! We can do this! [emoji173]️

I think we're all nervous. We know we should be loosing but we don't know how much or how fast because everyone is different . We just need to be patient with ourselves .

Just a slight warning: careful of focusing on food too much. It is what brought many of us here to wls land.

Personally. I limit my exposure to food ... even 10 years later.... I do not watch commercials. Rarely see a cooking show. Don't wander the aisles of the grocery store... I have a fairly decent sense of the Protein and assorted other items I need.

It helps me.

I hope your cookbook is filled with healthy items for a successful future with less and certainly healthier foods.

Good luck with your future. You have a great opportunity many do not get and now is the time to use that just for you!!

The commercials are the worse. Never realized just how many they are- when you're full all the time they are not as tempting.

The ones with the slow motion pulling of cheese make me the most nuts!

I cannot imagine 1 oz of milk being satisfying. My surgeons diet plan for a meal instructs to eat 2-3 oz of Soup for a meal. This is ridiculous! That is 2 or 3 sips. Even now post op 1 week that does not in any way fill me up.

  • Actually, for your body, it's not ridiculous. That's about the size of your pouch now with all the swelling- if you eat more than that you'll likely get sick (I did). YOU might be able to get away with more when you have broth, because it goes through so quickly.
  • What you are experiencing is "head hunger", Google it. It will take us awhile to change our brain's idea of what a meal is, to match our body. I struggle quite a bit with this, so you are not alone.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
