Suture reaction? Infected incisions... Pics

Recommended Posts

So I've seen tons of sutures in my life. Some of what you are experiencing is normal. Slight red eyes and small drainage happens, usually not 2 weeks out. But I can't see it for my self. Please oh your your doctor. Infected Abdominal incisions are really bad and call cause long term damage and spread into your belly. They also can be very difficult to heal. Your already going to be nutritionaly compromised for healing. You really do not want it to get out of hand. Go to your md.

Yes if you have wounds that are not healing go to the doctor..... the bruises are from the heprin shots (a blood thinner) they gave us all and several of them... the brusies take a long time to go away but should not be painful!!

@nifty22

So glad you are calling your doctor. As one responder replied, be honest about about your surgery. At my 2 week checkup, I was healed.

Keep us posted on your condition. You definitely have an infection.

Definatly tell your dr.!
It may be as you said, a reaction to whatever they used but you do NOT want it to get any more infected or you may have more serious issues on your hands!
Keep us posted and good luck.

Chavon & Nifty,
Please, please, please see a doctor. What you are showing in the pictures is not inconsequential! I agree with Rita and am a nurse (ICU) also. You do not want to risk post-operative sepsis. Gut sepsis is the worst! You do not have the resources in your bodies to handle this without help. Please post back to let us know how you're doing. Please also feel free to PM me if you wish.

I just want to say you need to see a Dr. ASAP. you knew something wasn't right as you sutured yourself. What else did they miss? This is a very dangerous situation. Major surgery always has risks. I had a c section that weeped for a couple of days and I went back to my Dr. She has to clean, pack and visiting nurse daily. This is actually my first post and I am actually very concerned. Please see a Dr.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
