I am 5 days Post op from having sleeve and I am needing help.. Is it normal to have NO PROBLEM drinking fluids, I don't even have to sip slow? I was in NO PAIN after surgery, had a few spells of nausea that's all.. Meds helped

Also does anyone take Inspire 3+3 chewables? Are they " too sweet" gritty? I appreciate any help I can get!! Thanks

Faithmel, I was exactly the same as you. Left hospital with a pain scale of a 1 (if even). Could drink normally. I was so concerned that I was thinking my surgeon might not have even performed the sleeve operation, as that was how normal I felt. I am now almost 6 weeks post op. Can still drink normally, but when I eat my stomach just tells me I'm full and i stop eating. I also avoid drinking 1/2 hour before or after a meal as advised. I know that everybodys experience is totally different. Check with your surgeon if you are worried, but sounds like you are heading in the right direction.

I had no fullness with drinking h liquids of any kind. I still have no restriction with liquid unless it is on top of food. I actually watched my liquid swallow and leak test on my release date from the hospital. Liquid went through stomach and down through intestines relatively quickly. I have lost 65 lbs since my band to sleeve revision so it is obviously working correctly! Just follow your doctors orders on eating and recovery and make sure you drink constantly. Good luck to you!

I am just 2 weeks post op and I also have no problem at all with liquids. It's crazy because with my band I couldn't really drink a lot of Water but now with my sleeve I drink a ton of water . My Nutriontlist doesn't believe me and keeps telling me to sip slowly or I will stretch my stomach ?? But I am not sure that's true . The downside is I haven't lost much weight yet but I am doing everything they tell me .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
