I felt better after I threw up. Iam starving and no energy, so decided to blend a Premier Protein shake with some blueberries, strawberries and a little Water. I am going to try to drink it really slow.
I don't think I have diabetes, but last time they told me I was prediabetic
That was a while ago.

Good! I'm sorry it took throwing up to feel better but I'm glad it worked-
Good job on the shake - those berries aren't that bad for blood sugar rises if you only do a little - because they're really high in Fiber :) so fun! Sip it slowly and see how you do- then if they work do them for a couple of days with your shakes and then wean off them- your body won't have to go cold turkey then-
Keep us posted :)

You should be able to have plain broth. Definitely keep in contact with your surgeon's office, because you don't want to have surgery if you are sick, or just getting over a depleting illness. In the meantime, in case it's just a short bug, just keep on drinking. Any calorie free beverage, unsweetened tea, herbal tea, fat free broths, etc.

Hope you feel better soon!

I start my pre op diet Thursday and I've been trying out the Protein Drinks. I too feel these shaky "low blood sugar" feelings 20 mins after drinking one. Mine have no sugar or fake sugar, just plain grassfed whey.

ive been searching on google and it's a thing: whey is insulinogenic. I don't know what this means but here is a study.

Good layman explanation of how this is good for you not bad here (found this on bulletproof.com)

Mother nature isnt stupid

Don't confuse this with blood sugar spikes, the insulinogenic properties you speak of are for the amino acid uptake (insulin=storage), which is then followed by glucagon (glucagon= release) to create a balance in the system. The better/higher quality the Protein source is the better the effect, if you aren't looking to efficiently utilize the protein you are ingesting then choose one with a low insulinogenic effect. Nature's pretty smart eh? If it only caused an insulin effect you would die from lowering a non elevated blood sugar, this is also why protein ingestion (by itself) can help with fat loss as the glucagon effect releases stored energy to create this balance in case there is blood sugar removed during the amino uptake process.

Insulin- prevents death by lowering blood sugar

Glucagon- prevents death by raising blood sugar

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
