Navigating the Wilderness 824 Posted July 1, 2017 I'm a stomach sleeper, so the first three weeks were really rough for me because I had to sleep on my back. I wouldn't think sleeping on your side would be bad though unless it causes pain.
Joann454 1,329 Posted July 1, 2017 It took me about a week to be able to sleep on my sides. Hated that!
Apple1 2,572 Posted July 1, 2017 Sometimes it helps to use a body pillow. I was able to sleep on my side about day 3 post-op using a pillow. 3 flab2fab_in0117, julbug and Soni572 reacted to this
hmills653 365 Posted July 2, 2017 I was just able to lay on my sides this week 4. If I tried my belly would pull and hurry my lower abd muscles. I think I strained them like the 2nd week trying to fold laundry from a basket on the floor in front of me and it took the next 2 weeks to feel better. But at first I tucked a pillow on the side under my belly for support, now it's ok. But I def couldn't while I had the drain in, too uncomfortable.

Ldyvenus 317 Posted July 3, 2017 I slept on my stomach the first night I was released. I just used a pillow to make it manageable. I am a fellow diehard stomach sleeper. 1 sammy246 reacted to this
sammy246 235 Posted July 3, 2017 Omg! I can't even imagine. You're badass! The nurse walked in and literally said "I don't think you can do that." She actually went and talked with the surgeon and then came back and said it wouldn't hurt anything and was fine if that's how I was comfortable. It was pretty funny. KateBruin 344 Posted July 3, 2017 Haven't had my sleeve yet (July 31) but I side/stomach slept the night after my gallbladder surgery as I'm a ride or die stomach sleeper. Try side sleeping with a body pillow.
