Help Craving Texture and to chew food

Recommended Posts

I've got three more days til purée stage as well but I'm not sure what to eat. Nothing is sounding too appealing as a paste.

Try some things that are almost a purée anyhow like refried Beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta bake (ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce basically but to a search).

I tried to respond using the App, but the message window kept closing. Weird, huh?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to ricotta and refried Beans. I hope we have some. I wanted to mention that I kind of get my chewing kick from my B-Complex. It's a pretty big wafer that I take little bites of and chew thoroughly. It doesn't taste bad either. (At first I thought it was going to taste like Orange Bariatric Advantage, but it's much better.)

Jello. Seriously. You can chew it. It was a huge thing for me. Maybe try chewing gum too? And yes to sf popsicles.

I appreciate everyones honesty here. When I have a craving to "chew and cheat" I try to think about how much my inflamed stomach needs this rest to heal. I have 5 days to go before I can go to full liquids. I am excited to have some cream and bean based Soups.

Here in Austria we go through the whole Clear Liquids, liquids, pure and solids in 4 days. Both sleeve and bypass.

I have been eating solids (with some restrictions like no seeds of any kind, no fresh bread and some veggies were not allowed) since day 4. But, everything has to be chewed down to puree.

That is my program, from my surgeon/hospital. I'm not encouraging anyone to do the same, I'm just saying that not all programs have you on liquids for weeks on end.

I didn't have to be on liquids before either, just soft food the day before surgery.

I am so envious!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
