So funny you ask this, I was sleeved on 5/17 and just had my first cup of coffee this week. I stayed close to home that morning just in case... but it was fine.
My NUT has coffee/caffeine on the no go list for life, but I am refusing that little piece of advice. I follow everything else in my diet to the letter, but if my tummy can tolerate coffee, I am not going to deny myself this forever. I talked to some other sleevers, and haven't met anyone who had weight loss problems as a result, just a few whose tummies are too sensitive for it.

I was sleeved on 5/18..... I waited a few weeks. I tried Decaf and spit it out! I drank the real stuff at 1/2 cup and was full. I also added some premiere to it as well. Hang in there

Hubby resumed drinking coffee a few weeks out with no issues. He adds Premier Protein to his instead of milk. I started drinking coffee at 1.5 years out as I wasn't a coffee drinker until recently.

Was about 3 weeks post. Drink mostly cold brew. Low acidic levels. No problems with it.

I waited 3 months. I actually didn't like coffee after SVG surgery. But I now enjoy 10 to 20 oz each day. Yes, irs caffeinated, but ad long as my urine is clear and my weight loss doesn't stall, I assume I'm not dehydrated.

As soon as my insanely strict post op diet let me. 10 days clears, then I think another week full liquids. coffee was allowed after. I made coffee Protein Drinks for several years; they were my lifesaver because I didn't have much appetite for Breakfast and needed to boost my Protein counts.

I keep seeing Protein coffee, what is it and where can i find it?

I like big train Protein Powder. It comes in a mocha that doesn't clump when you add it to your morning coffee. I got mine from Amazon.

I love this brand and flavor. I order from Amazon. I use unsweetened chocolate almond milk and a little ice and blend in my Ninja. This is really great.

Started Decaf coffee at 2 months post op. I'm 3 months now and started caffeine coffee last week. No issues. I use either fat free half&half or sugar free coffee mate.

I don't drink coffee, I never did before surgery either, but I do drink black tea. The caffeine doesn't bother me so the team said it was fine once I was past 6 weeks.

I love my coffee. As long as you don't get dehydrated I don't see there should be a problem. I drink 2 cups of coffee every morning with half a Premier Protein vanilla shake as the Creamer. Taste just as good as coffee mate.It is my Breakfast . I get my 30 g of Protein right off the bat every morning holds me until the lunch . Right after my coffee and protein I drink 30 ounces of Water all before lunch. On occasion I have a cup of coffee at a different time during the day and always use the Premier Protein Shake as the creamer for the extra protein.Has worked out wonderfully for me. I've lost 86 pounds since March 1.

I've been told to avoid it for a year, I think it is, but I'm kind of wondering whether that will be necessary. I'm going to see how I do with my fluids once I'm post-op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
