northstar9148 82 Posted July 1, 2017 I just started the 2 week shake diet before surgery. I don't know if I can do this! Iam about ready to rip anybody's head off!!!I'm hungry and Iam starting to get a bad headache. Is or has anyone else experienced this? I need to do this. I have come so far...Also, has anyone else had a problem because of large tonsils? Iam worried about them trying to get that thing down my throat during surgery. I had arthroscopic surgery for my knee and when I woke up, I couldn't swallow, breath or speak. It really scared me. They must of just crammed that thing down my throat. That's what it felt like...Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app 1 nikkiyellz reacted to this
shericrazylady 113 Posted July 1, 2017 It will get better! I'm 4days post op what I had for my 2 week diet was Optifast liquid diet and one solid meal at lunch which I had slot of salmon chicken or tuna meat and veggies or salad. I struggled to start off as well but your changing your life for the better it will be easier I promise. I also experienced the hunger and headaches do what you need to do for those I had no breathing problems when I woke up either. Navigating the Wilderness 824 Posted July 1, 2017 liquid diets make everyone angry and agitated. It is very, very normal. The headache is coming from either low blood sugar, or withdrawal from sugar. This is also very, very common. The pain you had was due to a breathing tube they used on you during surgery, and I have had a couple of surgeries where the pain from that was worse than the site they operated on, so I hear ya! 1 northstar9148 reacted to this
Jeffrey Stern 53 Posted July 1, 2017 Oh boy ....I was on the Opti-fast diet for 3 weeks prior to my surgery. I'm lucky I'm not in prison. LOL !! How is anyone ready to go from eating solid food to liquid meals and not feel like ... well you can imagine. 2 Sosewsue61 and northstar9148 reacted to this

Sent from my A1601 using BariatricPal mobile appThankyou for your feedback.I can't eat anything but shakes. I need to quit coffee too. I always put a lot of milk in my coffee. Like 1/4 cup. I am going to try caffeine free herbal teas. I think the Dietician said that would be ok. Iam going to try sugar free popcycles tonight. Man I man, my stomachs is growling...[emoji16] Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

The Dietician told me it is dehydrating and I would have to quit before surgery. He seemed to think I would be getting headaches. I put a lot of milk on it...Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

A.Better.Me 11 Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) I've had 3 of 4 friends that's had the VSG tell me they drink coffee everyday. I think they all put some kind of Protein Powder in them too. I don't like coffee so I didnt ask many questions regarding it. I would think it would be fine to drink a cup in the morning since it's not your main source of liquid intake.
