Starting my 2 week pre-op diet today.

I must say that I have been looking forward to this day with some trepidation.

I know that moving forward all will be good but I think just knowing that I can't have "certain foods" makes me nervous of failure. I know I have come this far in this process to have a fear of failure stop me.

Surgery scheduled for July 17th. So now the real countdown is on. Here's to getting healthier!!

Dam Chewy, the nurses gonna hate you when they gotta shave your stomach for surgery.

WUUAHAHHHAAAAAAAAAA.

Oh it's the human next to you who is having surgery? I get it, okay, okay, calm down, please don't rip my arms off!

Seriously @BRockVSG, great picture! Awesome news that you are getting close to your surgery day. Almost everyone goes through a trepidation/second guess phase at some point during this journey, it is perfectly normal. You may get a little down during the liquid phase and miss solid food, but no worries, it will be over soon and you will be able to start adding dense Protein back to your diet which makes a ton of difference. I wish you all the best in your journey!!

Thanks Nav, could you imagine trying to shave that walking carpet? A goal of mine is to build my own Wookiee suit when the weight comes off. So I have some goals and look forward to my new version of life after surgery.

Hi Brock,

Big Star Wars nerd here myself! I was in your shoes in late October last year when I started my 2 week pre-op diet.

You will be able to eat mostly anything again, but for the first few months you won't be able to. You know what? We've eaten so much of all the foods we like that we got ourselves up to the size that we need bariatric surgery. We've had plenty of delicious goodies. You'll have to take a break from them for a while. You'll survive. In fact, after surgery you don't even get that hungry and when you do eat you get full after only a few ounces. I've found that even when I could again eat a fast food burger or fries, that the grease did not sit well with me so I don't even want that type of thing anymore. I'll tell you what the big payoff is.

Today I stepped on the scale and it said I was 298 pounds. Last October I was 470. You can have very similar results yourself.

Just do what the doctor says, follow the dietary guidelines they give you and listen to your body.

Just think where you'll be this December when you go see The Last Jedi. You'll fit in the theater seat better and you'll be able to walk around easier. Life will improve greatly! Good luck!!!

I started my pre op diet yesterday and it is a rude awakening, even though you think you're prepared!
This is the precipice, after this it will get easier;we won't have to listen to our greedy tummies for a start. [emoji2]

Thanks Russ for those kind words. Congrats to you for breaking into the 200 club. I look forward to being there sometime. I look forward to the day of sitting in many seats comfortably...movies (to see Last Jedi of course), hockey games, broadway productions. Man, I hate the feeling of buying a ticket to event only to dread going as the date approaches because you hate the looks or feeling of just being to big for the seat. This goes with air travel as well, though I don't think I will really be comfortable in those tiny seats. I hope to have the success you have had. Almost one week in and it hasn't been quite as bad as I thought. Though I do miss a great many things.

So far so good on rocking this thing. Happy early Birthday to both of us I guess. Yours for being born and mine for being born again and given a second chance. Just over a week away and I am just not sure how to feel anymore.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
