Left shoulder pain 5 mos post op

Recommended Posts

For some people, left shoulder pain is chronic. I know someone who had her band removed because of this. I don't get it really, but it has something to do with the band pressing on the diaphragm , but for some reason it's felt in the shoulder.

I have been banded almost 10 months, and mine comes and goes.

Well the Dr took out all of my fill on Friday to see if the shoulder pain got better. Well it did. Not completely but for the most part it was better. My Dr told me that I could have it put back today so I would not over eat to much. Well he put it back in and before I even left the office the pain was back. He wants me ot let him know how it is over the next couple days. And then we will go from there to see what my options are. He mentioned a new band that is out that is easier on your stomach. So I will let you know what happens. I do know that I can not keep having this pain all the time.

JJB:

Sorry to hear that the pain left and then came back. I hope he can figure out how to take care of it soon.:Banane35:

I had shoulder pain off and on for probably a year. Sorry to hear you're having problems. If it makes you feel better, it's all worth it :Banane35:.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
