SO glad things went well for you. Did you follow the 2 week liquid diet? 1 week full liquid and 1 week clear liquid?? I start the liquid diet on Tuesday , July 4th, ugh! Please keep me posted on your recovery. I am so glad to find someone with the same Doctor. I will follow your journey and progress and learn from someone that has been through what I am going to go through soon. Best of luck on this remarkable journey.

Hey just relax! I was anxious as well but I got a boost from a sorority sister who had bypass surgery.

Yes, I stared the liquid diet actually 3weeks out...it will take time to adjust so start now! Eat something you like today as your last regular meal...like seafood or steak or whatever. Decide on starting Protein Shakes for Breakfast, I started with slimfast shakes....I also had Ideal Shake....I use the IdealShake to feel up once in the day and the slim fast was the rest of the day. During the that first week I did slip but I only did a salad and it had a piece of grilled salmon but after that I went back to shakes!!!!!

Most important was the week before the surgery, I exercised extensively, walking helped me reach my goAL weight. In addition to shakes I started sipping on broth, beef is better than chicken to me. I bought egg drop Soup mix and it was good!!!!!....lol

I went from a panicked 308 one week out to 294 on day of surgery.

I'm resting today so my tummy can heal....I'm havin Popsicles and Unjury with yogurt today....maybe some beef broth...lol...

Val

Hey sandijo!

Yes I did Slimfast daily but I blended a IdealShake once a day to feel me up...I would add banana and scoop of Peanut Butter.

I found it online and Facebook. Pretty reasonable on price and it taste good to me.

I'm really happy with the pre-op results so I will do those shakes next week....I'm not a broth fan at all...

Hello! Yes I did Protein Shakes mostly because I didn't like the broth much. I did a MISO Soup mix from Kroger and it was good just had to watch the sodium intake to keep from retaining Fluid.

Correction, it is IdealShape Protein Shake mix. Go online it's a good value and taste good. Now I'm finding that post -op it is too much to drink with regular serving so I have been doing ready-made Protein shakes like slimfast, special K, and premier which has the most protien. I'm having problems with pureed foods, I have to work on that.

But my pre-op success really boosted me. The exercise helped tremendously to reached pre-surgery goal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
