What should my goal be?

Recommended Posts

You should strive to be in a healthy BMI - which for you would be between 18.5-24.9 (or weight of - 110-144). You are currently 30.7. I am 5'9" and setting my goal for the higher end of "healthy BMI" 155lbs. I have 19 lbs left to go. I am going to wait and see how I feel/look when I get there on whether I want to go lower. The advice some will give is to go 10 lbs below your desired goal in case of "regain." I cannot imagine going to 145 or below, but again, I will wait and see. If I could have skin removal, it would probably take another 10 lbs off, but my entire body needs it, so it won't be happening. If I was under 50, maybe, but I'll be sixty in a couple of years and the pain/$$ required I would rather retire!

Good luck!

I'm your height as well. I chose a number that I felt I would be comfortable at. In high school I was 120. I had a very poor diet then. I also am in my 40's and have had 5 kids. I fell like 140# would be good for me. I may change it when I get closer. I think you need to consider your activity level as well. If you are doing alot of weights and building muscle you'll probably be a little higher weight even with a smaller size.

You might know what you feel is a "right" weight for you when you get there. Often, bodies seem to have set points that they are comfortable at and are more sensible to maintain.
Good luck and keep posting!

If you're going to set a number goal just make sure it's something realistic. If you set something too low and then don't reach it you will feel bad.

I started at 420lbs and a size 30. I thought I would love to get down to 150lbs. Two years later I am 195lbs and a size 12....if I had stuck hard to my goal I would be so mad at myself for not meeting it after two years.

Sophie

That is a tremendous victory. [emoji322]

You must feel so much healthier and less tired than before.... not to mention how our society treats larger people ....that makes it even harder for big people to do more things.... in my view .

I'm 10 years post band and a size 24 to 12. I like size 12!!! My body does too. So I basically eat Protein and work out and try my best to stay that size.

Best to you and congrats on hard work

I often get asked what my goal is and I have not set one either. I will wait and see how I look and feel as I continue to lose. It isn't just about the number for me but how I feel.
