I had my surgery in 2012. Weighed 278lbs. My lowest was 150lbs. Currently I am 190lbs. I want to be 145! As this is my healthy bmi weight, being 5'4. Anyone struggled with regain? It is coming off very slowly, dropped 5lbs within the last 3 weeks. Trying to eat veggies fruit and Protein and upping my Water intake. I have a caffeine problem, i like coffee too much. Started using organic 2% milk. Any suggestions or tips welcome. My downfall for regain was sweets and bread!!! I have eliminated bread again and pretty much down to no sweets again.

No sweets at all. Go back to basics. Lean meat, veggies, no sugar, no Pasta, no bread, no fried food, no fast food. I exercise a lot & eat 1500 calories/day. Try walking 4-5 days a week. An hour each time. If you want to reset your pouch drink Protein Shakes for your meals in the day & 1 healthy meal in the evening. Do this for 2 days & your pouch will reset. Mine had stretched a lil because I was eating too much. I reset mine last week & can really tell the difference. You just fell off the wagon a lil. Time to refocus & get back on track. Good Luck to ya

I recommend the 5 Day Pouch Reset/Test to get some restriction back and get started back with a Bariatric Eating plan.

Hi All! I am so happy I found this support group! I had my surgery 10 years ago and have kinda let myself go.... I was happiest at 140, 2 years ago, and now I am closing in on 200 and I am completely freaking out. I remember how much work and dedication it took just to cross that line and be in the 100's!! Best day of my life! Sooo now I am in need of some guidance from all of you so that I do not find myself back in the 200's again! What is this 5 day pouch reset that you are recommending? I would love to start on that tomorrow morning so any suggestions, pointers, recommendations would be sooo welcome and deeply appreciated by me!! Thanks so much!!!! Xoxo

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
