Hi,

I have never done a support group before so this is kinda scary to me. I had my bypass over 12 years ago. For the most part I have done well. My lowest weight was 140. Since then I have had 3 pregnancy's one which included a set of twins. I never gained much weight 15 lbs max for single preg and I only gained 30 with twins. I am older now 43 and have gained some weight back. 35 lbs if we are being honest. I have drank pop and have eaten things I probably shouldnt of. Is there a way after all this time to jump start my weight loss again? I have been trying to eat healthy and working out 3-5 x weekly at the gym. Just started keeping food diary again. I feel like I do when I was at my highest weight 274. Depression is setting in again and I don't know what else to do. Where I had my surgery never gave me good follow up. I always felt like I was in a factory that just pumped out the bypass but did nothing else. I am not one to usually share much of anyting with anyone. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Google pouch reset diet. It is basically starting at the liquid phase and progressing. I can't remember where I saw it but it was on a bariatric surgery page.

You just have to dive in and do it.

Remember why you had the surgery. I'm just 3 1/2 months out but my daughter keeps me on track. I'm 41 with a 4 year old. She needs a mother that can actively participate in her life. That alone keeps me on track. Just think of your children.

Keep in contact with this support group, it can help you refocus.

go back to the basics and don't get down on yourself if you slip.

keep going.

Hi, so this is literally my first post in any type of support group. I had the roux-en-y in 2011 and am in the phase where I'm regaining weight and am now in like emergency panic mode. I just wanted to let you know that your post really made me feel not so alone. It's unfortunately nice to know that I'm not alone. I wish you the best of luck! Maybe we can be little support buddies lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
