Feedback on my nutritionis'ts guidelines

Recommended Posts

Surgery was June 14th

I got my surgery outside of Los Angeles which is where I live and therefore I cannot see my nutrionist in person. She suggested:

1,000 calories/day

35 grams of carbs max

70 grams of Protein minimum

15 gm of sugar max

86 ounces of fluids

I wanted to see how this compared to other people. Please tell me what you think. It just seems like the fat is awfully small for the carbs to be so low. I am only at stage 2 where I am having Protein Shakes and nonfat greek yogurt mostly until Wendesday when I can eat soft foods. Let me know. Thanks!

I didn't move up to 1,000 calories until I was about 3 months post op. I had a hard time getting in 600-700 at the start. My goals at your stage were pretty straightforward - 60-90 grams of Protein daily. 64 ounces of Water daily. 30 minutes of exercise daily. If it had more than 10 g of sugar in a serving, don't eat it.

My diet at that point was mostly Oikos Triple Zero yogurts, shakes and Soups. When I added soft foods, I averaged under 25 grams of carbs a day. If you're not eating bread or wheat based products, you aren't going to wind up with many carbs.

I am 10 months out. I eat 1,000 calories a day. 70-90 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water minimum. I still keep my sugar under 10g per serving unless it is fruit - I get one fruit a day. Today, I will probably be closer to 90G protein because I'll be fencing for 2.5 hours tonight.

Count your protein and water/fluid - and you'll be in pretty good shape until you get to eating all foods.

The 1,000 calories is a bit much. I'm six and a half months out and I don't get 800 calories. But I do get in at least 134 oz of fluids, most of which is Water, and over 100 grams of Protein a day. So I'm fueling my body, which is the most important thing. The other suggestions are good, especially the more active you get.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
