darby81805 0 Posted October 9, 2007 HEY... I was just wondering... does anyone know how soon after surgery you can do strenuous exercise ?? I know you can walk pretty soon after but I get bored with walking so I have do to dance aerobics or kick boxing or the elliptical. I was just curious how soon after surgery you can do more than walking for exercise.....
cbrock1592 0 Posted October 9, 2007 I'm sure this would be a question for your surgeon - but I started the Elliptical about 2 weeks after surgery. But my heart rate would go sky high with very little effort. Took about 4 weeks to get back to normal. I guess it takes that long for your body to heal. I would wear a heart rate monitor to verify your are not over doing it.
jmarruda 22 Posted October 15, 2007 I would also think that the elliptical would be a safe bet, but anything like dance aerobics or kickboxing I'd put on hold for at least a month. But again, check with the doc!
