Wife was sleeved yesterday

Recommended Posts

Hi!
I think is pretty normal to get buyers remorse after surgery. My two first days out were HELL. From day 3 life was smiling at me again. Patience. She still have gas inside. Pls keep us posted on her recovery. Good luck to her and you!

About the same.
She can only drink Water, everything else tastes gross to her and makes her nauseous. She has had no Protein.
I don't know what to do as she is supposed to be on Clear Liquids for a week.

I wouldn't worry too much. Have her focus first on the water of that's what she can tolerate. I couldn't add the Protein Shakes until after the 2nd week. It'll come in time but she doesn't want to get dehydrated or constipated.

My wife is having horrible diarrhea.
She is afraid she is getting dehydrated.
Is this normal after sleeve?
Did anyone else experience diarrhea?

I am 4 weeks today. I initially had horrible Constipation probably r/t the pain med. Since then I have had watery diarrhea about every 2-3 days. It's just in the morning someone's a few times. I don't feel like its been enough to dehydrate me though. If she feels like she can't get enough Fluid in to replace it she should call the dr they may need to give her an IV.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
