Looking for blenders/mixers recommendations

Recommended Posts

What kind of blender are you using? My current blender is so loud, it will wake up everyone in the house when it's turned on (not to mention scared the crap out of our cats) so I'm looking for a new one. Is anyone using the Nutri Bullet and how easy is it to take those cups to work with you? In addition to drinking my Protein Drink at home, I also want to be able to make it and take it with me to work rather than buy the pre-mixed Protein Shakes.

There's no need for a fancy blender unless you're in the mood to spend money.

I use a $15 Hamilton Beach blender that's not loud.

We have a bullet one. I love it! Great for smaller servings and it gives a nice froth.

I have a Ninja I bought at costco. I bought extra cups from Ninja directly. The cups are easy to take to work. It's loud, but does an amazing job with fresh fruit.

Consori just came out with a really neat blender you might want to consider. You can find it on Amazon. COSORI smoothie Blender Personal Juicer, High-Speed Single Serve food fruit Maker Mixer System with Travel and Sport bottles, Silver/800W. Very worth the price.

I've had the NutriBullet (the one with the gold base) since just before having the VSG in August of 2015, and have used it on a nearly daily basis. It's very fast and efficient, and I like being able to just pop on the lid and take it with me. It's also easier to store it in the fridge if I can't finish it all in one go, because it's much smaller than a blender. You have to be careful to not overfill it, but the perk of this is that it helps with Portion Control.

I've mainly used it to make smoothies but also have made some tasty Soups using steamed vegetables, milk, and a little melted butter.

I bought mine while it was on sale at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and used an extra 20% coupon. I've used it far, far more than the bulkier, cheaper, less effective blenders we'd previously owned.

Vitamix...Worth Every penny. Got mine on qvc. Nothing like it. Can make a frozen fruit sorbet in a flash or a quick hot Soup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
