Hi all, I'm 9 days post op and I feel great. Today I got a little over confident and ate 1 slice of deli turkey and the cheese out of a calzone (about 3 tbsp). I feel guilty and I hurt for a good 20 minutes. Do you think that could cause a leak?? Scared...

I am not a doctor but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night... I also had my sleeve done on the 12th.

I think I can reassure you because I just had an episode albeit not with food but with pills. I took some additional pills above what was prescribed to me when I left the hospital on the advice of my general practitioner. I had the same "punishment" as you- and the same irrational concerns.

I just spoke with my surgeon and he explained to me that I "tested" the sleeve and it failed... I was also afraid I had messed something up or that there was a leak. He told me that I needed to be gentle with it and sooner rather than later it would "dialate" (open up so I can eat real food).

Hope this helped.

Also not a doctor but I'd think if the pain went away then it was your sleeve just telling you no thanks. That's why you have to go so slow because it takes time for your stomach to tell your brain whats up.

Taking 30-45 minutes to eat a tiny meal is hard to do mentally but as you move in the phases you'll realize how important that is to figure out what your sleeve will and won't accept.

I'm 3 weeks out and was only allowed liquids until today. I'm just starting puréed. So many docs give different food plans, I think mine is pretty cautious. Maybe try sticking to liquids as much as possible for another week, then slowly introduce puréed food, then other foods like deli meat
