Sweet ideas

I can't eat anything too sweet or it awakens the candy monster in me, so I won't try the 100-cal. packs. I do like the Kashi TLC chewy trail mix granola bars.

I carry one in my purse at all times in case I get too hungry. They do have 140 calories (!) but they have 6 grams of Protein and 4 grams of Fiber.

Found something new to share.

I watch this tv show called Unwrapped.. they show how different foods are made.

They did one with fruit Leather. It's 100% pureed fruit, that is dried specially and it makes it little 'leather' pieces of fruit.

A week after that, I saw them in my store. I never noticed them before, but it was in a weird section near pharmaceuticals.

Anyway, they are 45 calories per package.. I bought 3 different flavors to try them. Husband said he ate those as a kid, and he didn't think I would like them (his evil ploy not to let me buy 1 of every flavor I have decided.)

But I tried them, and I have to say I think they're awesome. I got apple, grape, and blueberry. Blueberry was my favorite. Tastes like a hard fruit roll up. And a nice texture, very chewy.

I love peppermint tea with one or two packets of splenda in it. Totally takes away any sweet cravings.

I also love to make sweet egg white omelettes... and put fruit on them. Usually, I blend 3-4 egg whites with a bit of cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Then I fold in 3-4 packets of splenda... and either cook it on the stove... in the nuker... or in the oven. Top with fresh fruit. It's delish. Low calories, lots of Protein... Fiber from the berries. Low GI.

I second the frozen coolwhip!!! I think it is better than icecream. It is so rich and creamy frozen. It really satisfies!! Also, I have found the weight watchers carrot cake individual snack cakes are the bomb. I tried the chocolate ones too, their aren't as good as the carrot cake. Also, all the smartones frozen Desserts. I like them cause they are prepackaged and you don't go overboard, unless you make yourself 2 or 3 of them. I don't remember how many calories are in the carrot snack cakes but I do know they are only 1 weight watchers point. They sometimes satisfy me more than the chocolate explosion whatever its called smartones frozen desserts. Oh and a smere of Peanut Butter on a quaker caramel popcorn cake hits the spot too!

I saw these 100 calorie frozen mousses (is that right, mousses? doesn't sound right...lol). Anyway, they were at Wal-Mart in the frozen section next to the cool whip. I think they came 2 in a package and had different flavors (chocolate, strawberry, etc). I didn't get any but they looked good. They also had frozen 100 calorie apple crisps and they have these new cookie and brownie bars for 100 calories too (non-frozen). They are starting to make more and more of the 100 calorie products which I like. Some people say they just make them want more but for me, 1 is enough, it satisfies my sweet tooth and it's already portioned out for me so I don't keep going back for more. I eat one and I'm done.

Me too, the 100 calorie things REALLY are a god-send for me.

Anytime I have a regular package, I will end up eating more than I need to. Ritz chips are a good example, I eat those and they're not in little packs, and I don't count how many I eat!

But everything I have in 100 calorie packs, 1 pack is plenty for me. And I know it was only 100 calories!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
