MadisonJames 4 Posted June 21, 2017 I don't feel hungry and if I do try and eat, I feel like I'm going to get sick. Last night I got sick twice. Now I'm afraid to put anything down. Any advice?? Also, what else should I expect and what should I be doing?? This is all so new and scary to me.
Please 188 Posted June 22, 2017 Your 2 days post op and your trying to eat? Maybe I took that the wrong way? 1 yvonne.cdn@gmail.com reacted to this
triplethreat 257 Posted June 22, 2017 Check with your surgical team to find out if you should be eating. Most of us are on a strict liquid diet immediately after surgery because the stomach needs to heal.
tabula 54 Posted June 22, 2017 Clear liquid diet for a few days then solid liquids, which worked for me as I did not want "eat" either. Even when soft food stage came, it was really slow going. Follow your plan and take it slow and make sure to take your supplements. Try Isopure to get the Protein in if shakes bother you. Also, lot of Water but go slow, sip sip sip..... MadisonJames 4 Posted June 22, 2017 Sorry, by eating I mean drinking!! Feeling a little better today. Can get more down than before. Have been sticking to Premier Protein mostly to get my Protein in for the day.
thabenski 14 Posted June 22, 2017 I am not sure about your plan - but I wasn't allowed Protein Shakes right after surgery as I was supposed to be on Clear Liquids only for 7 days. Maybe that's a part of the problem? 2 yvonne.cdn@gmail.com and Sosewsue61 reacted to this
MadisonJames 4 Posted June 23, 2017 I was allowed Protein Shakes while I was still in hospital. I had to be able to drink some in order to get released. Today was better than yesterday.. I hope it keeps getting easier.
Dabearo 118 Posted June 24, 2017 Hang in there. Go very slow. Water and maybe some broth. I had to keep remembering this is about healing and nothing else. Take as much Protein as possible, but you must stay hydrated. Hydration is really the most important in the first days. Your body has plenty of fat, protein in its stores for a while. It does not have hydration. Dehydration will also lead to nausea and general bad feeling. Good luck and keep us posted. When in doubt call your md.
