Bobbi, How are you feeling? It's been 4 days since your banding. I am totally with you there. Staying positive is how I feel too about everything. I'm 53 1/2 and it's a new and good journey for me to take on. I need to feel good physically and I know it will do wonders for me mentally also even though I can pretty much keep in good spirits most of the time. I've been through all of the required testings and we're now waiting for results to get to the surgeon's office. They will then give it to the insurance co. (which we know already they will cover) and then the date will be determined. I'm very excited because this is going to help me with the overeating and I am ready to make a complete change in my food choices with the lapband's help. I am hoping for a date right after January 5th, anytime after that. I have a busy season at work with the holiday coming up, sales... and my daughter just told me she's graduating Jan. 4th 08 from cosmetology school and she expects us there and we want to be there. The only one who knows I'm getting this procedure done is my husband and my closest friend. No one else and I don't plan on telling anyone cause my mind has been made up and I don't want to hear what everyone has to say. This is a very personal decision I have made.

Best wishes to you for an easy and quick recovery.

Stevie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
