I can't seem to lose any more weight

Recommended Posts

I'm only 10 weeks out and have only lost 24 pounds. I lost the first 24 pounds in 5 weeks. I have stopped losing for 5 weeks. I started out at 195 and I'm stuck at 171. I focus on my Water and carb intake. I walk every day. My Protein is at 70 to 80 a day. I have changed to just protein liquids yesterday. I just dont know what else to do. I am positive that my calories and carb intake is very low. Any suggestions? I want to lose 25 more pounds and its not budging. Not even a pound!

How many calories and carbs are you taking in every day? Are you weighing your food and tracking everything you eat and drink?

That's pretty similar to what happened to me. I've had quite a few long lasting stalls in my 9 months since surgery, but somehow I've made it to 60 pounds lost. There were lots of times where I was just pissed because "nothing" was happening, but stuff was happening! I continued to go down in sizes and then I'd go through a week of losing and then not lose for a while, wash, rinse, repeat.

I'm currently in a time where the scale isn't moving much, but my size 8 pants are starting to get loose...

Just stay the course, pick up a new healthy habit (I first started walking, then I added yoga, now I've started running and I do a combo of walking/yoga or walking/running every day) that will make you feel good about what you can do now and have faith. It will happen.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
