I'm really....I don't know...lost? I'm 4 days out and all I want to do is eat! I thought this surgery would help with that. I don't understand what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, other than Clear Liquids. I can't tell the difference between "I'm full", "I'm bloated with gas", "I'm having a spasm in my stomach", and "I'm hungry". It all feels the same! Presurgery, I would know how hungry I truely was by the intensity of my food craving. Post-surgery, the cravings are intense all day every day. There is no satiation. I'm so frustrated! Is it because I'm sick to death of the stupid clear liquid diet? I mean, I've been on this stupid diet for 19 days now! And I hate sweets! I'd give just about anything for chef salad, or a nibble of cheese...or just anything that isn't sweet. And I'm over the broth already. God, I feel like a toddler in a toy isle who has just figured out the toy I bought is a gift for someone else and I don't get to play with it. I need some direction or guidance, or a regimented daily food schedule for the rest of my liquid diet(s) phase (3 weeks!) Help!?!

New to this, but do you have a dietician? Are you supposed to be on liquds that long? Usually 2 weeks max for liquids then on to purees from what I've seen. I only had to do a week of liquid according to my dietician. Maybe if you have some actual substance you'll feel full, because liquids go right through and don't stay in as long to digest. Good luck.

Are you on clear liquids or full liquids? I was only on clear liquids for a couple of days and then on full liquids (protein shakes, thin milk-based Soups with no chunks, yogurt thinned w/milk, V-8 juce) for two weeks. I really liked Tomato Soup w/milk at this stage.

It is tough in the beginning I think as there is no way to really mentally prepare for your life change, which is huge. I found my "head hunger" was easier to control the further out I got.

Get a lot of Liquid Protein, that should fill you up. Try Isopure, lots of Protein.

I still get confusion on some of my stomach discomfort from, did I eat too much, something that didn't feel right or am I still hungry? Just go slow and navigate this new journey.

It's not easy but looks like you've already had a great start, focus on the weight loss and not what you "can't have", once I hit 50 lbs lost and my clothes were too big for me, i didn't care what I couldn't have and as you move through the phases you love the new foods, like cheese and eggs and avocados.

Everyone is different, need to find what works for you.

Good luck and hang in there, it gets easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
