Okay, I'm feeling the exact same way! I can't drink the Protein Shakes because they make me sick! I even tried Isopure clear Protein ewww lol. Today I went out after my appointment and I had my little sister that I had to feed. She ordered a burger and fries... I had beef tripe Soup (I consumed just the broth which was delicious) but I cried. I just started to think why did I do this to myself and that it's all my fault. I'm 6 days post op and will be on puréed next weekend! Hello chili and refried Beans [emoji173]️ stats: hw343 sw 319 cw 312 I keep thinking about the future when I will look and feel so much better, but yes, this is rough.

I was put on puréed foods yesterday I went for the Refried beans . And it tore my stomach up I threw up all day yesterday. I'm now back on liquids [emoji17] I pray that you don't have these same complications and that is a smooth transition. I feel like I regret doing this surgery.

Oh wow, sorry that you experienced that. That disheartens me. I hope our regret turns into happiness soon

I'm totally jealous! I'm on Clear Liquids for the first 12 days, 14 days of full liquids, then 14 days puréed foods! Though, for better or for worse, at the 7 day mark I decided to start adding full liquids to my diet. The materials from the program say 7 days clear liquids, But my surgery couldn't do my follow up until day 12...so, there you have it. I decided to add a "runny" Tomato Soup and such to my diet for the extra 5 days. When I see my surgeon, I'll start adding Greek yogurts and such.

As far as Protein shakes...I honestly don't know what I hate more right now, chicken broth or Protein Shakes. I finally broke down and bought Isopure Zero Carb RTD (ready-to-drink). I'm not a fan of sweets, but if have found these to be pretty good. I pour about 4 oz at a time and I have it on ice...which I had to wait until the spasms stopped before I did ice, btw. It takes me all day, but I get 40g of protein that way. For my other 20...I add a packet of Knox Gelatine (8g/pkt) to every cup of soup, and I drink a small glass of milk (I don't like milk either, but it's better than a protein shake!)

Tripe soup sounds divine!!!!! Looking forward to having more variety!

Why this is so hard stems from a number of issues most of us face having to go through WLS...

Psychologically, as compulsive eaters, it becomes ingrained into our daily life that we need to eat excessive amounts. It takes overcoming of what we did to ourselves to change this, and whatever psychological element we go through that compels us to consume this way.

And discipline.. many of us were simply not disciplined in how we went about things, so we suffered the consequences of it.

Having to suddenly find yourself disciplined and moderating is a massive psychological and physiological shock -- the body doesn't like sudden changes. So the side effects of this is something we unfortunately have to bear and get past.. which generally does happen with time and discipline.

You are totally right! I think the psychological shock was just as "traumatic" as the physical trauma of the surgery!!!

I feel you. I ended up almost dying during surgery due to an unforeseen complication that almost caused me to bleed to death- nothing on the fault of my surgeon, just bad luck.
I was stuck in the hospital for 11 days. I swore if I had to drink one more sweet thing I was going to shriek my blasted head off! Soups helped- which since you are still clear broth won't work for you yet.
I was super discouraged right after, not just from the complications I had but also because I "felt" hungry but the minute I tried to eat it was just not happening.
That shock/depression/discouragement was added to because I actually gained 50 pounds of Fluid from ivs and forced fluids while in the hospital. Nothing like going in for this procedure and coming out even heavier! That's where I completely understand your "gift for someone else" image.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm almost 6 months out. I'm 63 pounds (113 if I add in the Fluid weight loss ) down. I feel so much better- even with the ongoing problems I have from the complications. I can eat pretty much anything and yet the desire to do so is greatly reduced.
Set a schedule and keep it. That will help. Try Bone Broth. Journal your feelings- is it a longing for what you miss, the taste or emotions the foods being, or thinking you should be hungry?
This is a good place for support. Good luck.

OMG! I will never complain again. Okay, that's not true. But, holy crap! So glad you're doing better!!!

Hi.

I just use nesquick choc powder and I use 1 small tea spoon with 150 semi skimmed milk. Tastes lovely and it's not too much sugar.
I'm on Tomatoe Soup today which has been a nice change.
How u getting on?

I am waaaay less dramatic today! (Day 9) I bought Ovaltine...the jury is still out on whether or not I like it. I'll let you know when deliberations conclude. :)

I think I felt "best" on day 5 when I decided to take a bit more control over what was happening to me, if that makes any sense? I just made some decisions about when and how I would transition out of clear liquids...I honestly think 12 days is just too long. So, I made a compromise that I could live with and just listened to what my body was telling me...turns out a thin Tomato Soup was ok on day 7. :)

YIKES! Note to self, make sure I start with light and thin puréed foods? Did the doc say why it made you so sick?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
