6month post op update... Eating horribly

Recommended Posts

On Jun 30th I'll be six month post up rny. hw 305 sw 289 cw 222. Although I've come a long way from where I was I'm still not where I want to be obviously. I exercise I eat right I drink my Water I get my Protein in. But lately meaning the last two weeks I've been snacking like crazy. And not on the best foods. Its been a mix of fruit vegetables and Cookies or ice cream. Why?!.... I don't know. I have been extremely busy and under some stress lately but head hunger is getting the best of me. I have exercised four times within the last two weeks which is horrible. Idk why I'm snacking like this and the bad part is I feel so guilty afterwards because I know I shouldnt be snacking so much but I am. I need words of encouragement. I know I'm not the only this has happened to before. Get me back on track because I still have a long ways to go and I'm determined to get there. I know why I had this surgery so I don't need to be reminded of that. I just need to know how to get back on track and regain that drive that I had when I first stated me journey.

I know the feeling mate, I also am 6 months after sleeve and went from 122kg to 84kg , the past month or so i keep on having ices(too much sugar) and energy bars throughout the day and its killing me. I guess i need to remind myself where i came from and where im trying to go.

I think the important message is that its not over because of a few bad weeks, you can always get on the bandwagon

Good luck!!

Stick to whole food options for snacks; such as nuts, natural nut butters, fruits, raw veggies, boiled eggs, string cheese, yogurt with berries and almonds, tuna pouch. Avoid processed packaged foods as much as possible. Avoid processed sugar.

I hear ya! I'm bad for snacking too. I'm not sure if u had a bypass or sleeve. I had RNY bypass and around 6 months started snacking on junk food. From my experience the best thing is to be prepared with healthier options, have veggie tray made up in fridge, have clean fruit ready for snacking in fridge. Carry Protein Bar and fruit. Stay away from wheat products as Snacks and never have pop.

You have one year to lose most of your weight so try and make the best of your limited time. You've done really good with your weight loss you're almost under 200 and you can break that 200! Go back to basics 3 meals 2 - 3 snacks and 30 mins daily exercise. Drink fluids 30 mins after eating. You deserve to be healthy and feeling great and it will happen for you! I was at your starting weight 2 years ago and I've lost 140 pounds 100 the first year...and I'm not perfect with my diet but I try to keep having healthier options and keep up with exercise. You've got this!!

Thank you so much. This is definitely refreshing to hear. Usually my drinks are mostly Water a Protein Shake and hot tea with no sweetener. I do really good beverage wise. Its the snacks. I can't lie I have a cookie here ice cream there and usually no bread or rice because they fill up within two bites. But I also eat lots of fruits and veggies. So I do mix it up. But I've been mixing in a lot of processed snacks lately which I'm going to cut back. I've just found my new love recently which are salt and pepper pistachios.... So yummy. But thank you everyone for the chat. This was great

I'm 4.5 months after my bypass and I'm hungry all the time. I am exercising a lot but even so I'm finding it really hard to control the hunger ! I crave rubbish foods like crisps (chips). It's so hard to control. Would welcome any advice ....

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
