Hi Everyone,

I was banded @ UIC on Jan. 31st, 2007 this was my begining @ a new way of life @ the age of 57 years young :clap2: My doctor was Dr. Ayloo and she's been great, I've had 3 fills, and have lost 74 pounds thus far! Everyone I know has been so supportive, from my Dr's to my friends, and finding this site to talk and share with all of you is like frosting on a cake (chocolate) because nobody understands what we are going through, as well as others that are just like ourself in one way or another!

March 1st is my (our) 40th anniversary, and we are taking a western carribean cruise with two other couples to Celebrate the occation. I would love to lose another 40 pounds by then, we'll have to drive to Miami so I can shop for clothes on the way down. You can't find clothing for a cruise in Illinois in the month of Feb. :help:

I belong to the "Red Hat Society" fun and games over fifty! Anyway we wear purple clothes and red hats, I found this to die for beautiful purple dress at a garage sale for $20. This dress was bought by the mother of the groom for her to wear to her son's wedding, it cost her $500......I would love to wear it to either our "Red Hat" Christmas party, or on our cruise in March! Do you think I can make it?

I'm walking at least everyother day, I even bowled two games this morning and I haven't done that in 12 years! I'm sure the weight loss will slow up as time goes by, right? :cry

I try to follow my menu as we should and 95% of the time I do real well, I get my chocolate fix daily by eating 1/2 cup of sugar free pudding made with 1% milk. Sometimes I have a no sugar added fudgecicle in the evening too. :hungry:

I'll keep reading everything that you all have to say, thanks for the help you give us all by posting your threads.

JKR

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
