Did I Stretch My Stomach Back Out????

Recommended Posts

No, you are not stretching your stomach drinking Water. Remember at two weeks out your stomach is healing. You will gradually be able to consume more and more as the swelling from your surgery goes down. Once you start eating solids, the restriction will kick in. Promise.

For now, keep focusing on staying hydrated. You're doing a good job!

It's really a weird sensation. Water started to get easier and easier to get it in without having to take little sips. I find when there is no food in my stomach I can drink quite a bit of water, No gulps but regular drinks. I drink a Protein Drink with out the wait time before or after I've had water.

However, now that I'm eating regular food, i do have to wait the 30mins to an hour after eating or it does hurt.

My guess, liquid passes through with out any substance.

At two weeks I was able to drink 3 sizeable gulps at a time. I would finish a 32oz Powerade Zero in about 40 minutes. I was worried that I was taking in too much too fast and that the sleeve wasn't giving me the restriction I needed. Needless to say, I was worried about nothing. If anything, I am fortunate, because I never had trouble staying hydrated and my restriction is in full effect when I eat.

Good luck to you!

That's perfect, you don't want drink after eating....that's how you get used to consuming too much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
